First it was David Brooks discussing on the PBS coverage how this would now force the GOP to stay positive and begin a more substantive discussion of the issues. Then, Mark Shields wholeheartedly concurred. Then it was Tucker Carlson (the uber-conservative co-host of CNN's Crossfire). And then, Robert George, the uber-conservative columnist from the uber-conservative NY Post. There's consensus on this point across the political spectrum. In fact, by the end of the night, word was coming "unofficially" from the Bush-Cheney campaign that starting tomorrow, they were going to roll out a number of "positive policy proposals." Yes, I think that would be consensus.
