My Pet Goat

Because I still don't have a copy of the Report myself, I'm relying on others to find key nuggets. Here's one courtesy of Maureen Dowd of the NY Times:

He explained to the commissioners that he had stayed in his seat making little fish faces at second graders for seven minutes after learning about the second plane hitting the towers because, as the report says, "The president felt he should project strength and calm until he could better understand what was happening."

Interesting. To me that was the most powerful moment in Farenheit 9/11, and I'd wondered what Bush would say about it. Leaving aside wheter he looked strong or calm at that moment, why would an audience of 2nd graders be the place to do it? And did he consider the reading of My Pet Goat to be a source of critical information that would help him "better understand what was happening" in NY and DC?

NOTE: thanks to one of my readers for pointing out that the title of the book was not "My Pet Goat" (as reported in F911), but "The Pet Goat", and its part of a workbook rather than a separate story.
