Just watching this week's show now. As always, each segment will probably spark a post.

Segment One: Voting Rights Issues and the State of Florida
First off, a great mini-site on PBS.com. Tons of excellent links to excellent voter related sites. Key fact from the segment: Remember Kathleen Harris's role in the Florida recount? Remember how in addition to her role Florida's top election official she was also chair of the Bush campaign in Florida? Think that insane conflict of interest can't happen again? If so, you'd be wrong.

3 battleground states this year:
Michigan: Sec. of State Terri Lynn Lands chairs the Bush reelection campaign
Missouri: Sec of State Matt Blunt is both campaigning for Bush AND running for Governor.
W. Virginia: Sec of State Joe Manchin III is running for Governor.

I don't know what's worse - working to elect someone else while holding the position responsible for overseeing the election, or working to elect yourself while you oversee your own election... What kind of bizarre world do we live in that this is allowed?
