Too Good Not To Share

I realize I'm posting like crazy today, but oh well.

A second item from News Hour too good not to pass on. After discussing the historic implications of the 9/11 Commission's report, Mark Shields made this great statement:
"The one jarring note I got yesterday was to hear our leadership on Capitol Hill respond to what I thought was an urgent call from this Commission and a serious warning from its Chairman particularly and say,

My goodness, we're going on vacation for six weeks, and then we're coming back for a month and we have to handle some very urgent issues. we've got an epidemic of flag burning in the country, a Constitution amendment, and we've got to outlaw gay marriage.

Maybe if we find two Hamas terrorists at the Provincetown City Hall trying to get a marriage license after they've burned a flag, it might get the attention of the Congress."

Priceless.

Republican leadership apparently just gave in and will be scheduling hearings in August. We all need to stay on this to make sure our Representatives do what we've elected them to do.
