What Was HE Thinking?

I've always wondered a bit about CNN commentator Tucker Carlson, but this is just ridiculous. On Clinton's speech tonight:

I thought he was harshly partisan. I was kind of shocked by it. He's the former president; you're not supposed to accuse half the country of seeking to divide people. You can't accuse half the country of being evil.


Two comments:

First, its a political convention. Is he not supposed to be partisan? And come August, are the Republicans going to be non-partisan in their speeches?

Second, what speech was he watching? "You can't accuse half the country of being evil?" I can't even figure out what part of the speech he's trying to spin this out of. Can you? Did he write his comments before watching the speech?

I just don't get it. How is it that so many political analysts are so close minded? Isn't the point of politics informed discourse? And how can you be informed if you've already made up your mind about issues before hearing the facts or, in this case, if you react to speeches before you've heard them? I just don't understand it, whether its coming from the right or the left.
