New Kerry Ads

Before getting up from my computer for the night, I decided to check out the Kerry's site to see how they were handling the whole Swift Boat thing. What I found were two new ads.

The first, which features a short clip of an interview with the man Kerry saved in Vietnam, didn't do much for me. While I obviously think that setting the record straight is important, I'm just not sure that you can do it in 30 seconds. It's an unfortunate fact of TV based campaigns that its much easier to level a charge in 30 seconds than it is to answer it.

Whic, I suppose, is why the second ad is so much more effective. Rather than discussing the facts of a day long ago in Vietnam, it turns the tables and responds directly at the Bush campaign. That this response is delivered by McCain is what makes it so incredibly effective. I wonder, how much longer will all this go on before McCain speaks up for himself?
