* How is it that the Haliburton SEC issue didn't become a scandal of historic proportions? When you consider everything the Clinton administration was invistigated and castigated for, that this one goes by with virtually no comment is just baffling. Think about it... Massive accounting fraud takes place on the watch of our current VP, and he's not held even slightly accountable? Then again, I suppose that's just par for the course with this administration. No one should ever be held accountable for anything, right? I'd like to think one day we could find a happy medium behind this and the treatment Clinton received, but I don't hold out much hope. Come next January when Pres Kerry takes office, I imagine the Republicans will start right back up as if nothing had ever changed.
* Olympic coverage is just so 20th century. Why on Earth would anyone ever watch tape delayed coverage of anything when you can read all about it on the Internet as its happening. Even worse are those incesent human interest profiles that they shovel out left and right. For every 5 minutes of competition you get 25 minutes of "she climbed uphill 5 miles in the snow each way to train on the only pommelhorse in a 500 mile radius" crap. Is anyone out there actually watching this thing? I certainly don't know anyone who is. And to think NBC paid a fortune for the games thru 2012! * Iraq: Despite the worsening situation there (another al Sadr uprising?), I just don't feel like the media coverage is doing justice to the seriousness of this issue. I swear, if it weren't for the Internet, I'd know nothing about what was really going on out in the world. What happened to journalism in this country? |
Feels good to be back. Time to go trolling and see what I can find.....
