Separated at Birth?

I've never met Publius. Hell, I don't even know his real name. But I swear to you, sometimes I feel like we were separated at birth.

All last week I was working on a paper about freedom, using the Federalists, and in particular, Madison's conception of it as the backbone of my work. Even more specifically, I was using Madison's conception of faction (think interest groups, parties, associations, etc.) as the basis of my thesis. Short version - Our system was designed purposefully to increase faction in order to preserve liberty. In Madison's day it was a profoundly radical notion. Hell, still is...

Anyhow, today I head over to see what Publius has been up to this past week, and what do I find? A post about how it's faction that will save us from the nutters.

Please. Go read this. He's right. Spot on.

And yes, Madison was a genius.
