| Republicans are pushing to rewrite budget rules in an attempt to remove financial obstacles that threaten the GOP’s effort to reform Social Security.
The potential move to craft budget language that would direct the Congressional Budget Office to score Social Security reform legislation over 30 or more years would likely increase the chances that the bill would pass in the 109th Congress. Republicans could also write budget provisions that would remove the program entirely from the budget process. |
This is a multi-TRILLION Dollar program, and we're going to take it off budget. Just pretend it doesn't exist. Gee... I bet the world's financial markets will just LOVE that!
Oh... or maybe we'll just start writing 30-year budgets. Cause we're oh-so-good at predicting things like economic growth 30 years into the future.
Funny thing is... if we'd just raise the payroll tax a bit we'd solve the problem. Which, of course, is precisely why its the one thing not under consideration.
