OUR GODLESS FATHERS

Wow. Looks like The Nation has put that fable to rest. I've seen it done in dissertation length before, but never so succinct as this. Wow.

Here's just one of many highlights. Can you guess who said this?

"The day will come," he predicted (wrongly, so far), "when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter."

That would be none other than Thomas Jefferson. Yes, TJ, he of "Founding Fathers" fame.

This is one for the archives. One day I'll figure out how to weave it into one of my classes.
