IT WILL COME FROM THE WEST

Chris Bowers over at MyDD has a great summary of a new Survey USA poll just released. Here's the one part that really caught my eye:
Western, but not West Coast, Democrats are shining. Freudenthal (WY) is at 67/20, Napolitano (AZ) is at 59/32, Henry (OK) is at 59/30, Schweitzer (MT) is at 58/27, Sebelius (KS) is at 54/34, and Richardson (NM) is at 54/39. That is a sick 59/30 average! Can there be any doubt that the party need to move left, I mean west?

If the Dems go West, my prediction is that they will be virtually unstoppable. Just finished a 20 pager on this, so I'm not going to go into much depth right now, but... the short version is this: Even Bush's repeal of Clinton's Roadless Rule could come back to haunt him. He's given Western Gov's (most of whom are Dems) 18 months to come up with plans for the use of lands within their borders. If his administration goes with their plans, they'll share much of the credit. And if he goes against them, well... Fights over land use policy played a hugely under-appreciated role in the conservative realignment of 1980.

I promise. More on this shortly. But first, 60 exams and 60 papers to grade, then one last paper to write. More soon....
