How on earth does this make any sense? And with policies like this in place, why do most military families still vote Republican?

It's odd. Conventional wisdom holds that the nation doesn't trust the Dems on issues of national security. No doubt there are some valid reasons for that. But if the facts show - as they clearly do - that Republicans support the troops in word but not deed, why should anyone trust them either? If I were the Dems, I'd be sure to make the treatment of vets one of the top issues in 2006. The lack of support these men and women receive is a national disgrace, one that would infuriate most Americans if they knew what was really going on.
