Interesting turn of events in the filibuster showdown. One of the kids over at DailyKos is right. In a speech on the floor of the Senate today, Sen. Specter threw down the gauntlet to both sides - if both sides can't come to an agreement, the 12 moderate Republicans and Democrats who've been meeting in an attempt to reach a compromise will use their power as the decisive swing votes to FORCE a compromise.
