Of all of the things I've seen come out of this administration, I think perhaps this scares me the most. We're scaling back our nuclear arms control efforts in the middle of a "global war on terror." Really? Seriously? What happened to that "mushroom cloud" that we heard about over and over again in the run up to Iraq. What, now that we know they didn't have weapons, no one has them?

I.... but... um.... are these people living on the same planet as us? Under what bizarre form of logic does this make even the smallest amount of sense? God help us all.

UPDATE: And I case you missed this today, a timely reminder:

BERLIN (Reuters) - German intelligence fears terrorism is "radiating" from Iraq around the Middle East and expects further attacks across the region, its spy chief said on Monday. "We fear developments in Iraq are radiating outwards," foreign intelligence chief August Hanning said in brief comments to Reuters. He said it was possible that an intensification of insurgent attacks on Iraqi security forces and the U.S.-led coalition was encouraging like-minded militants to step up attacks in the wider region as well.

Nuclear nonproliferation? Who needs it! We'll just got it alone! "Bring 'em on" says the chickenhawk-in-chief.
