WHAT EXACTLY DOES IT TAKE?

Looks like the Whit e House is rejecting calls for the firing of FEMA chief Michael Brown. Which mean, I take it, that they think this is the appropriate response to a massive natural disaster:
The government's disaster chief waited until hours after Hurricane Katrina had already struck the Gulf Coast before asking his boss to dispatch 1,000 Homeland Security employees to the region — and gave them two days to arrive, according to internal documents.

Michael Brown, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, sought the approval from Homeland Security Secretary Mike Chertoff roughly five hours after Katrina made landfall on Aug. 29. Brown said that among duties of these employees was to "convey a positive image" about the government's response for victims.

Let me reiterate. Fire Brown. Fire Chertoff. And then let me add to that. Fire any FEMA agent who took one second longer than absolutely necessary to arrive in NO. "I was just following orders" won't cut it here. They had a duty to serve and protect. 2 days? 2 DAYS?
