I was this quote had been at the beginning of his statement and not the end. Nevertheless, a simple, easy to understand, and even easier to repeat talking point.

“I look forward to meeting Judge Alito and learning why those who want to pack the Court with judicial activists are so much more enthusiastic about him than they were about Harriet Miers.”

Until the facts have been laid ouot clearly for the American people, Dems shouldn't oppose. They should signal that they are open-minded, interested in learning more, but willing to stand up and fight if and when the facts prove it necessary. No knee jerk reactions necessary. Thoughtful and reasoned should be the approach here. If you'r eon the left and that idea bothers you, just think how it will bother the radical right who are just waiting for a fight!
