I'm sure plenty of people have already made this point elsewhere, but here's one additional thing to keep in mind about the UAE/US ports fiasco...

The is a world of difference between a foreign-owned company controlling our ports, and a foreign government-owned company controlling them. That is what makes this such a disastrously bad idea, with or without the war on terror.

The deal includes ports that are responsible for 40% of our military cargo. Is that something we want a foreign nation, one from the most unstable area of the world no less, to play a role in? Think about that for even a nanosecond I think the answer will be obvious.

There is absolutely no way this should have ever gone through. Cafferty is right. This may be the last straw. Coming so quickly on the heels of Cheney's mishap, its possible we're witnessing the beginning of the end here.
