PIGS FLY UPSIDE DOWN?

Wow. Jack Cafferty was on fire today.

For those of you who've missed it, just days after winning the election to replace Tom DeLay as Majority Leader, it has been confirmed that the new Majority Leader John Boehner is living in an apartment that... wait for it... is owned by a prominent DC lobbyist. Because, you know, when your party is deeply enmeshed in a lobbying corruption scandal it makes sense to make a lobbyist your landlord. The level of stupidity is just astonishing.

But check out what Cafferty had to say just now on CNN. It's priceless.

UPDATE: DeLay looks to get in on the act too. Never mind the indictments in Texas. Never mind the coming indictments in l'affaire Abramoff. Oh no. Republican leadership in the House has given a plum new committee assignment to the disgraced DeLay. It's the House Appropriations subcommittee that controls the purse strings of both NASA and the Department of Justice. Now why would DeLay want financial oversight of the DoJ? Hmm.....

Here's one thought:

"Allowing Tom DeLay to sit on a committee in charge of giving out money is like putting Michael Brown back in charge of FEMA — Republicans in Congress just can't seem to resist standing by their man," said Bill Burton, spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Oh, and in case you were wondering why the slot was open? It's fellow disgracee Duke Cunningham's former seat. He gave it up after coping a guilty plea to trading votes for goodies. Seriously. You just can't make this stuff up.

Which reminds me.... For those of you fretting about that silly NYT article splashed all over the paper today, well... Two thoughts:

1. ADAM NAGOURNEY is either a hack or a shill, take your pick.

2. The story is some serious inside the Beltway nonsense. Al politics is local. And what's happening locally is... MAGIC.
