| "I believe that a prosperous, democratic Pakistan will be a steadfast partner for America, a peaceful neighbor for India and a force for freedom and moderation in the Arab world," Bush said in his New Delhi speech. A White House official later said Bush meant to say "Muslim world" since Pakistan is not an Arab nation, news agencies reported. |
How can he possibly make a mistake like this? After 5 years in office, 4 spent fighting his stupid "war on terror." How can he possibly not know that Pakistan is NOT an Arab nation. Iran isn't part of the Arab world. Neither is Afghanistan. And they sit between Pakistan and the Arab world. In fact, the nation we're currently occupying is on the eastern edge of the Arab world. How can he possibly not know this?
And lest you think I'm getting bent out of shape over nothing, next time you meet someone who is Persian, call them an Arab and see what they have to say. Or better yet, don't, and just trust me on this one. It's not a mistake you want to make.
As for Bush, why am I surprised? This is the man who travels to Asia and eats at Outback two nights in a row. He wants a steak? Fine. Has he even heard of Kobe beef? I doubt it. But maybe I've got it all wrong. What says Asia more than a fake Australian chain restaurant?
This is also the man who has no interest in visiting the Taj Mahal, and then tries to blame it on the White House scheduler.
And yes, for the record, this is a man who never once visited a foreign country before he became President of the United States.
And finally, as if that's not all bad enough, this is a man who visits Philly and lies about what kind of cheese he takes on his cheesesteak. I'm not kidding.
The question isn't how this man became president. It's why? Visiting Machu Picchu was, is, and always will be one of the highlights of my life. My god. If I were president, the places I would go, the things I would see... How is it possible that someone who manages to become president could be so incurious about things he doesn't know? I just don't get it.
