NOT TO BE OUTDONE, SOUTH DAKOTA RESPONDS

So a few days back I wrote about the coming battle over abortion, and at the time, it looked like Utah was out in front in the race to claim the title of most repressive regime. But South Dakota, it appears, has gotten their second wind and is pulling up hard on Utah's heels. The key question, it seems, is when to allow exceptions to a full ban on abortion. Rape, apparently, isn't enough. In South Dakota, it will have to be, well... read for yourself
BILL NAPOLI: A real-life description to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child could very well threaten her life.

Like Utah, it is now clear that South Dakota's real concern isn't abortion, its sex. What the hell is wrong with these people? And why is it they always seem to bring sodomy into the debate? Raping a religious virgin wasn't enough? He had to bring in the issue of sodomy as well? Digby is right, this man clearly has given this issue considerable thought. Someone should ask him why.

As I said in my previous post about Ralph Reed, its always those who protest the loudest that have the most to hide. In this case, methinks the Senator from South Dakota doth protest too much.
