THEY ASK QUESTIONS

Tim Graham over at NRO's Corner asks:
Can anyone imagine, for just one example, that if Katrina had hit New Orleans in 1999, with the same disastrous force, that the news media would basically be treating the hurricane as a Clinton scandal?

He's kidding, right? Right? Has he forgotten that part where the media flipped out for months about a blowjob? What about Hillary and the White House travel office? Or maybe the endless reports about Whitewater? And he thinks that the drowning of a major American city wouldn't have been a scandal under Clinton? That's a joke, right?

And while I'm over at the Corner, KLo offers this AP correction as some sort of defense for Bush. Bush wasn't actually warned about levee "breeches." It was "grave concerns" about levee "overruns" that actually made the warning.

Cause, you know, doing nothing about breeches is one thing, but doing nothing about levee overruns is just fine by her. And Bush. Amazing to think that the only thing stopping the his administration from responding properly was semantics.

What is wrong with these people? This is the best they can do?

UPDATE: Hmmm.... Perhaps overreacted to Tim Graham's question. What I should have said was the following:

Can anyone imagine, for just one example, that if Katrina had hit New Orleans in 1999, with the same disastrous force, that FEMA under the Clinton administration would have handled the disaster with any less expertise than even candidate Bush once admitted the agency had?

I understand that some people don't know their history. But this is just 6 years ago. Bush praised Witt and FEMA under Clinton in a presidential debate with Gore.

With Witt and Clinton in charge the media wouldn't have portrayed it as a scandal because the response from their administration would have been immediate. There would have been no reporting because there would have been no scandal. Which prompts a second question:

Can anyone imagine, for just one example, that if Katrina had hit New Orleans in 1999, with the same disastrous force, that every single individual over at NRO's Corner would not have been lambasting Clinton for appearing in New Orleans in person within hours of the disaster? That they would not have savaged him for personally appearing at the Superdome to comfort victims? That they would not have accused him of creating a media circus, and of using other people's pain for his political gain?

Why is it so damn hard for people to be honest?
