If I Had Gotten Home Quicker...

I was planning on writing precisely this. Sadly, Andrew Sullivan beat me to it:

I guess if Bush and Rumsfeld had really hoped to reconstruct Iraq (and I now find that dubious, given the troop level they assigned), they might have found a better sub-constractor than Halliburton. Like, say, Hezbollah.

Its both pathetic and sad that they appear able to do what we could not. And no, lack of support from the native population is not an excuse. Remember - the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld plan for the war worked under the assumption that we would be greeted as liberators, a claim they have continued to make until this day.
