It's Not Easy Being Green

Every time I think it can't get worse, it does.

After allegations of Republican-supported fraud in Pennsylvania Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli's attempt to get on November's ballot, a review of petition signatures was ordered by a judge. The order called on volunteers from the Greens and the Dems to work side by side to review over 100,000 signatures, but the Green Party was unable to come up with enough volunteers to do the job. But no worries - Rick Santorum's campaign was happy to step up and provide the necessary people.

That's right - the very same people who are alleged to have helped commit the fraud are the ones now working to determine whether or not fraud was committed. Brilliant.

Now here's my question: Where is the Green Party leadership in all this? Their candidate is accepting the help of Rick Santorum, a man with whom they a) have nothing in common, and b) are supposedly competing against in the very same election. I hear all the time from my Green friends that their party is different, that its about principles and not about politics. But unless their party steps up to either repudiate this nonsense or stop it entirely, their claims have been demonstrated to be entirely hollow.

UPDATE: Oh goodie! Now the Greens are getting violent. Because, you know... nothing says violent like "Green Party member." Or something...
