For the past few months, I've had a post about the use - and misuse - of the term "the left" kicking around in the back of my head. I've known what I wanted to say, but I haven't ever found a way to say it properly. Fortunately for me, Publius has absolutely nailed what I've been thinking. Take a look.
Publius beats up on Kaus. I'd pick on Andrew Sullivan. Either way, the point is the same:This isn't 1972. It's not 1982. It's not 1992. Hell, it isn't even 2002. And sure, 1970's style liberal activists are still out there, but if it isn't clear already, I suspect that over the next few years it will become painfully obvious to everyone involved that these people don't in any way represent "the left" of 2006.
I know, I know... this deserves more much more analysis that I'm giving it today. But for now, this post from Publius will have to do.
