Michael Tomasky makes a great catch. Both the NYT and the WaPo rightly noted Bush's ceremony this morning a the site of the Twin Towers. It was an important event, one worthy of extensive coverage. But in covering it, the Post missed something obvious that is symbolic of everything wrong with this administration's approach to the event, and it was captured nicely by this photo from The NY Post:
That's NY Mayor Bloomberg, Laura and George Bush, Gov. Pataki and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Nowhere to be found are any other NY officials. Or any Democrats.
9/11 happened to all of us. It belongs to no party, no organization, no institution. I don't know why that is so hard for them to understand.
