In what must be one of his most sarcastic posts to date, Matthew Yglesias lays bare the complete lack of progress in establishing rule of law in Iraq. Then, setting aside the humor, he gives us this gem:
...the problem with eliminating militia influence from the police is that the parties that run the militias are also running the government.
When the purported solution to your problem - democracy - becomes the source of your problems, what then?
