This is a stupid meme, and it needs to be killed now.

Conservative? Really?

I thought the Dems were so liberal that they were a threat to all things American, including apple pie and motherhood? And now we're supposed to believe they're all conservative?

UPDATE II: With Rumsfeld's departure, no one is talking about this anymore. And given that its not actually true, I don't suspect it will come back.

Bush just short-circuited the entire debate over what this election means. The people wanted change, and the president gave it to them. There is no denying that. That will now be the only interpretation of this election. The fight for the frame is over.

The fight now is over how Rumsfeld's resignation will be framed. The Dems need to fight now to make this part of their victory. Change in this election must be owned by the Dems. Win this fight over framing and you win everything.
