A few quick links this morning...

Excellent analysis over at DailyKos today. Take a look.

More interesting work from Kevin Drum on the bogus "conservative Democrat" meme floating around last week.

Paul Krugman (hidden behind that stupid Time$elect firewall) also takes the faux-issue on today, using Sen. Tester has exhibit A for the stupidity of the "conservative Democrat" theory. For those who don't have access to Time$elect (and why would you?), the front page piece on Tester will make a great substitute. And for those looking to do some serious procrastinating, Glenn Greenwald has a much, MUCH longer take on the subject.

The newest edition of Newsweek is about to hit the stands... "Father Knows Best" is the headline on the cover, "Make Room For Daddy" the headline on the homepage, and the cover.... well, let's just say this one must be killing Junior:

David Kurtz over at TPM has a great post about Bush, McCain, and the apparent belief among Republicans that the American public is simply "frustrated" with Iraq. I know everyone thinks McCain is a lock for the nomination and general election if he runs, but I've never been convinced. One thing I can say for sure, however, is that if he stays this out of touch, he'll never win in 2008. Bring 'em home? Not McCain. He wants to increase the number of soldiers serving in Iraq, and he wants to do it in the next few months. Atrois promptly dispatches this latest bit of lunacy.

Nancy Pelosi has endorsed John Murtha as the next Majority Leader of the House of Representatives. Not that it means much, but he has my endorsement too. Ezra Klein and Matthew Yglesias have more details for those who have yet to take a position.

And what does Pelosi and her party have in store for the upcoming session? Plenty. But these two items seem particularly important to me. Expose the corruption of the party who proclaimed itself the champion of "moral" and "family values", and not only will you win in 2008, you'll bury the conservative movement for a generation.

Speaking of 2008, Russ Feingold is out. Tom Vilsack is in. But because the race will come down to Obama vs. Clinton, none of this matters.

And what will Karl Rove have to say about 2008? Honestly, I could care less. Here's why.

And last but not least, the groundswell of support for Keith Olbermann and his "special comment" segments continues to grow. If for some reason you're not yet watching MSNBC's Countdown, you really need to start.
