Via Kevin Drum, who for months has been quite effectively making this point, here's an interesting post
from Suzanne Nossel over at Democracy Arsenal.

As bad as things are in Iraq, it is important to remember that there is a very real chance that they could get much, much worse. Our desire to find a happy ending for this war doesn't mean one actually exists. IT is important we recognize that and begin planning for both the best and the worst.

I don't really have much to add to what Kevin already said, I suppose, other than to say that it seems to me as if we're already well on our way to some, if not all, of Suzanne's worst-case predictions. I want to be proven wrong on this, but so far, I don't see any reason to hope that I will be.
