Greg Sargent has an excellent question. For years Bush has been saying that decisions about troop levels were up to military commanders on the ground in Iraq.
If military commanders in Iraq are opposed to a "surge," why is Bush considering it? Or more to the point, what has changed that his previous policy of deferring all responsibility on the issue is no longer operative? It is a bit weird that no one is commenting on this, isn't it?
