Striking All The Right Notes

Another Bush appointment, another disaster. This time it is Abigail Kimbell, Bush's pick to head the US Forest Service. She's the one who came up with the "healthy forests" initiative, a plan designed largely to keep trees healthy by cutting them down.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) isn't happy about it. Not surprising. What is, however, is that he absolutely nailed his response:

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) said Montana forester Abigail Kimbell has shown she is "inclined to raise fees, close campgrounds and otherwise make it harder for people to access their lands to raise revenue."

Focus on recreational use of public lands and you will have a vast majority of Westerners on your side.
