What Do Aqua Teen Hunger Force And The War On Terror Have In Common? You'll Never Guess...

In case you haven't yet heard, parts of Boston, including one of the biggest highways in New England, were shut down today due to a suspected terrorist threat.

You'll never believe this, but... it turns out the supposed "bombs" were actually part of a promotion for Aqua Teen Hunger Force. They were tiny little blinking magnetic Mooninites.

Our new Governor has said the following:

"It's a hoax -- and it's not funny," Gov. Deval Patrick said.

A viral marketing campaign gone awry? Yes. A hoax? No.

Look, I realize that this isn't likely to happen, but really... if we are now at the point where we are shutting down parts of major American cities because someone has decided to stick small, blinking, magnetic cartoon characters around town, shouldn't that perhaps get us to rethink the way we've internalized the threat posed by terrorism? And by terrorism, I mean, you know... realOklahoma City, World Trade Center scale terrorism?
