Liberal Media Bias

Here's a great example from over the weekend that demonstrates just how ridiculous the whole "liberal media bias" thing is.

A few weeks back, the Edwards campaign landed itself in hot water for hiring a couple of bloggers to act as low level campaign staffers. The bloggers were hired, fired, rehired, and then ultimately resigned on their own. And the story was covered by virtually every major media outlet, with particular attention of course from Fox News.

Over the weekend, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), one of the long shot candidates for the Republican nomination in 2008, named South Carolinian Henry Jordan as one of his campaign co-chairs. Back in 1997, Jordan was a member of South Carolina’s Board of Education. At the time he worked diligently to impose his version of Christianity on public schools across the state. When his colleagues expressed concern, Jordan was quoted as saying: “Screw the Buddhists and kill the Muslims. And put that in the minutes.” Amazingly, Jordan survived calls for his resignation, a feat accomplished in no small part with the help of the SC Republican Party.

Now... Hunter is obviously not one of more prominent candidates on the Republican side, so I could understand if the story received less coverage. But no coverage? None?

Some liberal media, eh?

UPDATE: Here's another example of bias in the media. Today's WaPo includes coverage of a public opinion poll they just completed on the war in Iraq. Included in the poll was a question related to support for Murtha's plan to restrict funding for the war based on troop readiness levels. The Post editorial board is opposed to the plan. According to their own poll, the American people strongly support it. And yet in the Post's coverage of the poll, that important detail was not mentioned.

Damn liberal media....
