SecDef Gates seems to genuinely understand the meanings of leadership and accountability. The conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center are a national scandal, one that is years in the making, and people need to be held responsible for their mistakes. Amazingly, after 6+ years in which virtually no one in this administration has ever been fired for making a mistake, Gates is firing people left and right. Well done, sir. Well done.
And while I'm on the matter... they might as well start engraving another Pulitzer for Dana Priest, because she most definitely deserves an award for breaking this story nationally.
