K-Lo may be on to something here:
Edwards should cut a deal with Gore early on to be climate czar with Cabinet-level status. That along with cutting a deal with Obama to be his veep.
That would, I think, be a politically unstoppable force. And I say that as an Obama supporter.
Then again, I just got through watching the first half of today's SEIU Health Care Forum, and I have to say, Edwards was by far and away the winner. I know Hillary has tons of experience on this issue, but even she couldn't compete with Edwards today. And Obama? In my mind, he came in a distant third. Yes, I realize the campaign is young. Yes, I know he will eventually have a plan. Nevertheless, his answers were mostly vague promises to hold roundtables that will help him come up with a comprehensive solution. The only thing that saved his performance for me, in fact, was his claim that his first term should be judged by his ability to pass comprehensive health care reform that moves us rapidly to universal coverage. It was both bold and politically risky, particularly given that he doesn't yet have a plan.
Round One? Edwards.
