What a great line.
The office of the wife of Rep. John T. Doolittle (R-CA), one of the congressmen most central to the Abramoff investigation, was raided by the FBI on Friday. Her business? Collecting 15% percentage of all of his campaign contributions for her work as a "consultant."
Via ThinkProgress and from McClatchy. Here's Doolittle's lawyer's response to the raid:
...the raid was in connection with a search warrant for Sierra Dominion records and not anything related to the congressman. He declined to say, however, whether John Doolittle had become a target of investigation in the ongoing probe.”
It's just his wife! It's not anything related to him!
Even for a corrupt Republican congressman, that is really low.
UPDATE: Even better. It wasn't just her office. It was her home office.
