Its been far too long since I quoted Wolcott. Let's fix that.
From his recap of the GOP debate:
I kept waiting for one of the second-tier candidates--i.e., cannon fodder--to interject his willingness to authorize the torture of immigrant women to disclose the names of their abortion providers, but perhaps it slipped Sam Brownback's mind in all the excitement of Rudy Giuliani standing on a pile of 3,000 WTC dead being showered with money and applause. It's easy to get distracted in the thrill of the moment...
They're all about projecting force, certitude, resolve, and Male Authority. K'Lo must have gotten dizzy watching them, unable to decide whose cruel boots she should wrap herself around and declare herself his harem-slave. From this week's debate the sole issue regarding women in this country is how difficult to make it for them to obtain an abortion; policies that would help working families seemed out of place in an exhibition of muscleman poses. It was cut this, torture that, bomb this, stand tall, never waver, build mo' better Gitmos.
I pray that I never, ever get on this man's bad side.
