Steve Benen is right: There is quite literally nothing a right-wing pundit can say that will get them ostracized from mainstream society. Nothing.
“I’ve learned my lesson; if I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”
And he's right again. Imagine if Michael Moore had said the following:
“I’ve learned my lesson; if I’m going to say anything about Mitt Romney in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”
Imagine the quite justifiable outrage that would ensue.
But Coulter? She'll spend tonight on Hardball with Chris Matthews. After all, as he says, "she sells books."
Or something.
UPDATE: Oh, and Barack Obama is apparently now a terrorist because of the combination of, a) his name, and b) his use of the words "hijack" and "religion" in the same sentence.
