First off, even with the torrential downpour that hit a few hours into our Saturday AM hike, the trip to Acadia was fabulous. The gift of an amazing system of national parks left to us by previous generations never ceases to amaze me.
Second, During our entire time there we did not once check our email, read blogs, or watch the news. Amazingly, the world went on without us.
Under these sorts of circumstances I would normally try to do a round-up of news and commentary from the time I missed, but sadly this time around I simply don't have time. Instead I'm going to call your attention to one op-ed published in Sunday's NYT. Only in America, as they say. Only in America.
