In a rational world, this sort of thing wouldn't work. And I don't just mean that generally. Remember that one of the most overlooked phenomena of the whole Impeachment mess was that Clinton's approval rating steadily increased throughout it. The attacks made more people like him, not less.
This second time around, I have a strong hunch that the same thing will happen all over again. The problem is that media coverage of these sorts of things is so disconnected from the way normal people perceive them that it will take on a life of its own completely independent of reality.
Should Hillary survive all this, I think she will become an unstoppable force. And I say that as someone who would prefer to see another Democrat elected.
