Oh my - via ThinkProgress:
Fallon told Petraeus [in March] that he considered him to be “an ass-kissing little chickensh*t” and added, “I hate people like that”, the sources say. That remark reportedly came after Petraeus began the meeting by making remarks that Fallon interpreted as trying to ingratiate himself with a superior.
The Washington Post a few days back claimed that the Surge had "sparked dissent and infighting" among military commanders, even going so far as to quote on off the record source who compared the fight to "Armageddon." But still...wow.
Given that this quote and story confirms the Post's narrative, I'm starting to think maybe we can put some hope in rumors of a new CentCom plan calling for a much more rapid withdrawal than Petraeus has suggested. The question is, now that the White House has publicly backed the Petraeus Plan (as if there was ever any doubt they would!), will the Pentagon actually ignore them and release their own plan anyway? And perhaps even more importantly, will Congress call Adm. Fallon to the Hill to share his thoughts?
