Michael Vick's Life Is Becoming A Train Wreck

First it was the admission of guilt on federal dog fighting charges. Then it was an indictment in the state of Virginia on related charges. And now Vick has tested positive for marijuana.

Vick has yet to be sentenced in federal court, and random drug testing was part of the special agreement that has kept him out of jail from now until then. So much for that.

I already suspected that Vick was going to get more than the 18 months everyone seems to have settled on. Now I know he will. On top of that, the NFL is now going to have to penalize him for violating its substance abuse policy. That may sound meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but for Vick its not. Just a few weeks back he had publicly pledged to remake himself and prove to both the league and society at large that he was worthy of a second change. Personally, I could care less if he gets high, but under the circumstances, it was an incredibly stupid thing to do. It's almost as if he wants to self-destruct.

Sad, really, given all blessed life he was living.
