This is a great a catch by John Cole. The very same people who vigorously defend the right of the government to wiretap anyone anytime without a warrant are now up in arms because the states are surveilling people over illegal cigarette purchases.
Wiretapping the phones of Americans who haven't committed any crimes? No problem!
Interfering with their ability to buy cheap cigarettes and illegally transport them across state lines? That's just a bridge too far!
How do these people keep the cognitive dissonance going? I don't get it.
