Marc Aminder thinks he has the final schedule figured out:
Jan. 5: Iowa caucuses (both parties) Jan. 8: New Hampshire primary (both parties) Jan. 12: Nevada caucuses (both parties) Jan. 15 Michigan GOP primary; Dem beauty contest Jan. 19: South Carolina primary (both parties) Jan. 29: Florida GOP primary; Dem beauty contest
Andrew thinks this means it will be over by February. I'm not so sure. Assuming that one person sweeps, or at least nearly sweeps, the contests, then sure. But if not, the final outcome could still very much be in doubt as we head in to Super Tuesday.
Either way, next time around, can we please fix this ridiculous process? If it ends up being done in February, what are we supposed to do from then until the Conventions at the end of the summer? And how will our election laws handle that 6 month "we know who the nominee is but they aren't yet officially the nominee" delay?
