Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend

Last night was the closing party for Avalon Boston, a club that not all that long ago was one of the nation's best. For over 15 years it has played host to some amazing nights, and last night was absolutely no exception. Closing parties are always special events, a chance to see old friends one last time in a space where you've shared countless nights and early mornings. But even by the higher standard to which such nights are usually held, last night was something special. Armin Van Buuren, one of the world's best, brought his A-game, delivering a 3 hour set the likes of which I haven't heard in years. I'd call it epic, but that wouldn't even begin to do it justice. When even the DJ is amazed by his own performance, you know you've been given a gift.

On Friday we hosted BT. On Saturday, it was Digweed, Dave Ralph, and Underworld. And on Sunday, Armin.

Never mind what I said on Friday...dance music isn't dying. And no, I'm not ready to leave it behind. In fact, if anything I'm more inspired by it than I've been in many, many years. Now if only I could get David Lewis to write me back....

Pictures of the night coming shortly....you'll see. You'll see....
