Thoughts on Tonight's Debate

In order as the thoughts occured to me tonight...

+ Finally they are swinging directly at Hillary. By name. Finally.

+ Hillary sounds surprisingly shrill when forced to defend herself.

+ Chris Dodd really is growing on me. I cannot believe I just typed those words, but there they are.

+ Sen. Biden still seems to me to be running for Sec of State or Sec of Defense

+ This "war with Iran" nonsense needs to stop. And it won't stop until one of the major Democratic candidates calls it what it is: nonsense and crazy talk. Brian Williams asked Obama under what circumstances he would attack Iran by asking what his "red line" was. This is insane. Why are we talking about going to war with Iran? Why are we assuming that we need to draw a line in the first place? Why is it taken for granted that Iran poses a threat so serious to the United States that we must draw lines in the sand?

+ Thank you, Sen. Edwards. You are calling the Iran nonsense what it is. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU.

+ Kucinich just called for the Impeachment of the president. Wow. And a bit later, he hit the media for endlessly framing war as both expected and normal. I don't support the first move, but the second is so long overdue that I had given up hope on it ever happening. More like this please!

+ This focus on Clinton is relentless. Finally...finally...finally! Edwards is doing it a bit more strongly than Obama, but both are hitting her hard. Edwards seems on the verge of calling Clinton a liar. Obama is taking a similar approach, but he's a bit more hesitant about it.

+ Even Dodd and Biden are swinging at her now. I have no idea what Richardson is doing up there though.

+ Obama's finally making the key point: 4 more years of Clinton will be 4 more years of bickering. If you want that, vote for her.

+ Weird watching Richardson first beg his colleagues to stop attacking Hillary, and then second move directly into an attack on her. Edwards provided the perfect response to Richardson's nonsense, and at the same time he hit Clinton hard. Man this is getting rough...

+ Dodd brought up the issue of Clinton's electability.... and then my blog stopped posting properly for the next hour. Urgh!

+ "Lightning" rounds are stupid and useless unless you are willing to cut of a candidate's microphone.
