Via Andrew Sullivan, a quote from Matt Drudge:
"We're now in a totally new era where information is information and you just really have to set your own threshold in what you believe,"
It's as if Drudge has never heard of the idea of "truth." Some things - in fact, many things - are objectively true or false. There are no thresholds, and it has nothing to do with the quantity of information available. A lie doesn't magically transform into the truth simply because it has been repeated a million times, and this is as true in politics as it is in science. Some things are relative, but many more things are not. And although there are in fact many new things about this new era, a new definition of truth both cannot and should not be among them.
