Against Torture? Get Out!

Powerline looks over the GOP field and concludes Huckabee, McCain, and Paul simply cannot be allowed to win the nomination. Why? They oppose the use of torture, of course!

I particularly liked this part:

Waterboarding and long-term detention aren't very "Christian"; they merely keep terrorists out of action and, in special circumstances enable us to find out where we're going to be attacked next and/or where we can find those who are planning the next attacks. But if Huckabee actually did reach his position based on the views of a handful of generals, and without consulting the people actually charged with protecting this country from terrorists, then he's even less qualified to be president than I suspect.

Consulting retired generals, men who have spent their entire lives protecting and serving this nation, has now been deemed by the GOP faithful as dangerous. Consulting active duty officers is of course fine, but the minute they reach retirement age, well... we just can't have that, now can we?

Nor, apparently, can we have our christianist candidates considering their christianity when making foreign policy decisions. Morality must apparently stop at the waters edge.
