A Question

If I say "I want to punch Bill Clinton in the face," does this mean that I want to punch all men in the face? Obviously not. It's just a silly expression of frustration with a specific individual and nothing more. (And for the record, no matter how serious I might sound when I say it, I'm not planning on punching anyone anywhere.)

OK, but if that's so obvious, why is it that so many people seem to think that saying "I want to punch Hillary Clinton in the face" means I'm a misogynist?

Just because the personal is the political doesn't mean that the political is the personal.
