Former Rep. Bob Barr, a true old school conservative if ever there was one, has decided to run for president this year one the Libertarian ticket. I don't expect any of the new school authoritarian conservatives to support him, but older, more reasonable conservatives who still believe in small government and the protection of individual liberty may consider his campaign as the perfect vehicle for a protest vote.
The potential of Barr's campaign to undermine McCain clearly already has many on the right worried. In an appearance on Hannity's show yesterday, for example, Sean accused Barr of wanting to legalize crack and of wanting to elect Hillary Clinton president.
The Libertarian Party is already on the ballot in 28 states, and word is that they will eventually appear in as many as 45 states. Thinking strategically, if you live in one of the 22 states in which they have not yet qualified, you might want to sign a petition and help them out.
